The Legend of Hordi

The book of V. Gordienko in its genre is a fairy tale, consisting of 10 short stories about wonderful adventures and faithful service to people of an unusual, brave and smart bird. This is the eagle owl Hordy. He has many abilities, skills and he lives in a small town lost in forests and mountains on the seaside, in the family of the boy named Sviat. Hordy got into this family of kind and helpful people by accident. A small, almost deadly owlet, torn by feathered predators and bleeding in deep snow, was found by Sviat, skiing in the forest. Sviat was a member of a school club of ornithologists; therefore, he immediately noted the rare species of the nestling belonging to the endangered bird species and the threat to life of his wounds. The fairy tale story of V. Gordienko “The Legend of Hordy” is aimed at children of primary and secondary school age. It teaches not only love of nature, respect for “our lesser brothers”, but also the desire to be brave, responsive to others' misfortunes, the desire to be useful to all people living nearby.
